Moving to a small village in the Bavarian countryside after running successful galleries in Munich and Berlin might not be a step for everyone but it was definitely the right one for Galerie Zink. As Michael Zink personally was already based in the south of Germany, he decided to bring life and work together and moved the gallery to the village of Waldkirchen with 30 inhabitants, imbedded in the beautiful landscape between Munich and Nuremberg.
The village of Waldkirchen has been settled since the 8th century AD and became a place of pilgrimage early on. The church and the rectory, built in the 1880s, are the heart of the village. Situated on a hill with sweeping views, this was the perfect location for the Galerie Zink Waldkirchen.
In autumn 2017, we began converting a neighboring building to create the new gallery space, an art storage area and an artist's studio. The space, designed by the Swiss architects of Atelier Dimanche - Mathieu Robitaille & Tamara Henry - was officially opened on April 6, 2019.
